Working on Maps (Again)

November 9, 2010 § 7 Comments

But I’m serious this time! I actually got something done. More of a rough outline than anything, but an outline can be improved upon; a draft, refined. It’s a good step in the right direction, at least. Like I said, I’m going to redo the entire basis of the Crystal area. Here’s the Map System outline of it as it stands:

See, last time there was a lot of the map that was there just for the sake of putting more space between points A and B. This time around I’ve gone for a more nonlinear design, with each area having a specific purpose. The map also can be categorized into three seperate mini-locales if you will, being the Ruins, Research Station and the deeper natural caves. This is done, again, to give a greater feeling of variety to the area.

Other business: I rewrote the bulk of the TSC parser and made it less than 48% of its original length. I also drew some like fence textures and for some reason set them aside to upload so, here you go I guess.

Oooh look it’s all spaced apart
